How about a chance encounter at a five star hotel where I'm staying for work and my schedule is packed, but I manage to get away for just ten minutes to treat the listener to a special surprise?
That sounds good. It gives it a reason to be a specific length, which is a nice extra for people who care about that sort of thing. And it could become the theme of a series of if it works out.
That being said, you're trying to force long-form logic onto short-form content, which kind of defeats the point. This is supposed to be quick to make, easy to record, and I thought that's what you needed due to your time constraints?
So, what are we looking at? A 20-minute version of the current script that you will pay out of pocket, and a new draft for the 10-minute concept that I should turn in ASAP?
Clarity would be reasonable and considerate. Specific instructions, seventy-two hour turnaround times at the very least. Examples. Being on the same page regarding the products we're working on and their purpose.
[still smiling!!! but you can see his eyebrow twitch slightly at each of those items]
Yes. Understood. Please count with those seventy-two hours—and you'll have the weekend to yourself, of course. No specific instructions beyond what we've already discussed.
... And I can email you a couple of examples from my membership content so you'll have a clear idea how explicit the script should be.
Re: done
How long would you like this to be, approximately? Ten minutes?
And is it okay just to get the listener off as special service, or do you want to do more for them?
Re: done
... Just getting them off is okay. [hesitates] And then maybe whispering sweet, comforting things as they doze off to sleep.
Re: done
You're not asking for a voice pack script, what you want to make is called a drama track.
Re: done
Re: done
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but your standards are not realistic.
Re: done
[clears his throat]
That's a different scenario.
Re: done
But I don't think that's the kind of content your management would like. They market you as premium.

No, that's not what I... meant.

... I appreciate your feedback and willingness to work with my complicated requests. I'll make sure to keep it in mind for the next track.

Re: done
No, it's fine. We can keep this one as-is. I already have a recording session booked for today, so it's simpler that way.
If you think the concept for the other 10-minute track is acceptable, then feel free to get started on it at your leisure.

Five PM.
[in a little less than two hours]
Re: done
Then I won't have time for my commute and feedback edits. I'll do them here if you don't mind.
