Catherine is always right but she's not omniscient. You could say something to him and make him talk to me. You could have someone else do it. You could rely on weird boat things you know and I don't to make it happen. And I would have to trust that you're not.

It would be like fake dating, except only one person is aware of it. Obviously, they fall in love, and that proves that the person lying was in the right all along, but they're also wrong because they lied. The 70% conflict can be a gotcha reveal, or maybe the liar's lies catch up with him.

It ends well only because I write it.

If you take my advice, remember you cast me as a meddler and brought your own ruin upon yourself.

Unfortunately for you, you're getting involved rather late and missed where we've already done that trope. I already lied to him about who I was for a decade and then he lied to me about wanting to be friends and it turns out it's a good recipe for making each other miserable. You can take that as a note for your books, though.
